Saigon continued

Off to Vung Tau, which is down the coastline of Vietnam.
Walked over to the docks (getting more used to the traffic crossings now) to get the hydrofoil down and due to late breakfast was told we'd have to get the 1100 ferry.
Bought our tickets and went for stroll around the local area to see some sights before we were due to board.
Got back at 1020 and presented our tickets to the attendant, only to be told they were for the 1000 ferry and that we had missed it, got a little annoyed and tried to say that the attendent had told us 1100 but they just said we'd made a mistake and would cost us an extra 20% to change our tickets to the next ferry.
Asked for our money back but was told that would be 20% charge as well so we just paid up and got on the next ferry at 1030. (could have been a language difficulty but also a nice scam, give wrong advice and right ticket?)

HCMC was raining as we left so it was good to go down to Vung Tau for the day though it was also very hot.
Also very empty, apparently a lot of Vietnamese go down there on the weekend so during the week was pretty quite. Amazingly though the streets and sidewalks were in great shape for most of the areas we visited with no rubble, cracks etc. Decided against a swim thought as the overcast conditions combined with Lonely Planet warnings and rubbish on the beach turned us off.
Spent the day walking around and then decided to save the feet and get a taxi up to the lighthouse, money well spent as it was a long way up.
Afterwards we stopped at the Ned Kelly Bar and had few drinks whilst waiting for our ferry.
Finished our books so availed ourselves of the book exchange service to trade our expensive ones in for some el cheapo's we hadn't read.
Ferry arrived a bit late so we fast walked back to our hotel to meet up with our tour group.
Had a great dinner with them and out to the backpacker area for a few 'quiet' ones before heading home.
