Many goodbyes said and some farewell drinks on the rooftop bar of our hotel, it has been a fun (and interesting) experience.
At the start of the tour the mercenary attitude of the Cairenes had me vowing that this was a once only trip to Egypt however our experiences since then have changed my perceptions to feel only this way about Cairo, not all of Egypt.
(I still don't want to rent a taxi, buy a camel, smoke sheesha, purchase 'authentic' fakes or obtain drugs)
Anyway, off to Sharm El Sheik on the red sea.
It is amazing, a purely tourist town (no original local settlements) which has grown out of the desert purely on the basis of it's great climate (bit hot in summer) and sensational water and diving/snorkeling.
It's described as the Las Vegas of Egypt and there is no doubting it, can't find a local street to get away from the tourists, touts, flashing lights or commercialism everywhere.
Staying at the camel hotel which has the oldest and best dive shop in Sharm and today we went out on the boat, Sandra did two dives and I decided to give it a go and did an introductory dive to 5m.
IT WAS GREAT!
No problems with breathing (don't have them with snorkelling) and the ability to see all the underwater world up close and without having to hurry back up to the surface was sensational.
We'd talked about my possibility of doing it so we could both enjoy it in the future and we decided that it could be started here.
